Welcome to Golden Wind Tervurens!
My name is Cypress, and I am the heart behind Golden Wind. Based in North Carolina, I have been passionate about the Belgian Tervuren since 2019. In 2020, I welcomed my first Tervuren, never intending to breed until I met my mentor, Anna Balsamo. Anna has been invested to the working line Tervuren since 1997, traveling the world to meet and watch some of the most influential dogs in the breed. Through her guidance, I came to realize how few breeders there were in the U.S. dedicated to the working line Tervuren.
When I began attending seminars and trials with my dogs, I often heard comments like “good for a Tervuren.” I quickly noticed a common perception that the breed was inconsistent, unstable, or lacked ability. But my own dogs proved otherwise, and I became determined to understand and challenge where that reputation came from.
Over time, I traveled throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe, meeting breeders, seeing dogs firsthand, and connecting with accomplished working dog programs across multiple breeds. Those experiences shaped my vision of what the Belgian Tervuren should be — and Golden Wind was born.
My program is dedicated to producing medium to large dogs with confident, stable, open temperaments, strong bite mechanics, excellent structure, good health, all while retaining the ability to relax. I believe the Belgian Tervuren is capable of meeting any challenge, and my breeding reflects that vision.
I also actively compete in PSA to showcase the strength, drive, and potential of this incredible breed, not only honoring what they were bred to do, but also highlighting what they can achieve at the highest levels of sport.
